Avalanche to Jam in 5 steps


We had the usual strawberry avalanche - 4.5 kilos of it!


This year - a new adventure. Strawberry jam. Step 1. Cut the 880 g. of fruit.

Step 2. Add juice of 1 lemon and cook in low heat

Step 3. Sterilize the jars. 5 jars into a pre-heated oven, 150 deg C for 10 minutes

Step 4. Add 880g of jam sugar (sugar with pectin) on high heat to bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 5. Into the jam jar!

Recycle, reuse!

After three years, compost at the bottom of the bin is now ready to use.

 The compost goes around the planting - a chilli plant and a green pepper plant.

Meanwhile across on the other side of the garden, tulips are in full bloom!

Planting

We planted the saplings from Co-op. Luckily we had some rain after we planted. Hope it beds in the plants.

We also got a bird-feeder and filled it up with bird seed. Hope to see some birds soon!

A new start in 2015

We were back to the Coop in Villeneuve to get some saplings to get going again.


So what did we get? Tomato, Pepper, Aubergines, Courgette, Broccoli, Lettuce, Basil, Beetroot and Chilli! How much did it cost us? CHF 61.03.
